The 10-13 Club of Northeast Florida honored Phillip Cardillo at our February 5th meeting. The Club presented a plaque to his son Todd, his daughter and other family members. Fortunately the meeting was well attended. We had 75 members and guests at the meeting. It was the most rewarding meeting that I ever presided over.
It was very emotional for me when I read a letter from Patrolman Rudy Andre. Rudy was the fifth patrolman to arrive at the scene. He asked me to read his email to the Cardillo family and the assembled members. Todd said it meant a great deal to him and his family to have his father remembered by retired NYC police officers. He also said he got emotional when he went to speak.
When John Briganti gave me the plaque I was taken back by its beauty. It was a work of art. Todd couldn’t believe how nice the plaque was. The Club Officers have decided to change the name of the Member of the Year Award to the “Patrolman Phillip Cardillo Award.” We will keep Phil’s memory and spirit alive.
You can be certain that in the near future we will be honoring Phil again on the morning radio show Flagler’s Blizzard of Oldies 93.3 FM WFBO. Never Forget Patrolman Phil Cardillo. I assured Todd that the NE 10-13 will never forget Phil.
