MEDICARE
RE-IMBURSEMENT
This
reimbursement does not come to you automatically; you must apply in writing when
you reach the age of 65. You and your spouse can be reimbursed going back three years. The application should be filed before the end of May.
The city needs 30 days to process applications. You only have to file one time;
the application will always be on file. Only those enrolled in a City
health plan are eligible for that benefit.
Send the Medicare Re-Imbursement form to:
NYC Employee Benefits Office
40 Rector St. 3rd Floor
New York, NY 10006
If your check does not arrive by the end of August, contact Cheryl Clark at 212-306-7610.
DO NOT CONTACT HER FOR ANY OTHER REASON THAN A MISSING CHECK
If you need a Re-Imbursement Form you can download at http://www.osaunion.org/osarc/main.html or contact Eddie Woods at epwoods@cfl.rr.com. You can also see me at a meeting or call me for the form.
MEDICARE QUESTION
FORWARDED ONTO TONY DeNATLE, CHAIRMAN OF THE HEALTH and WELFARE, NATIONAL NYCPD
10-13.
One of my
questions is, because I am on S.S. Disability and I'll only be fifty-nine
(59) years old, will I be entitled to any
reimbursement from the City for the Part B
payments?
Joe,
This is Tony
DeNatale, Health & Welfare Chairman with the NYCPD National 10-13
Association. You will be entitled to reimbursement from the city for
Medicare part B, as age has nothing to do with
it. In all likelihood you will not receive a check for this year, but
will get one next August. If your wife is, or when she becomes eligible to
receive Medicare she too will be reimbursed.
You must notify
the city health benefits at
Thanks,
Tony
